Zili CARE Team
I earned my medical degree from the University of British Columbia and received a Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians of Canada with over 17 years of practicing and seeing thousands of patients in various stages of their life. I am a mother of two, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a business owner, and an advocate and family doctor for preventative care. To advocate for patients, there was a need to create the preventative health platform called Zili CARE; bringing tools and insights on how to take ownership of your health mentally and physically. I utilized my voice as a CBC health contributor and speaker on resiliency, mental health, and gender equity. I love teaching and being a clinical instructor for the UBC Family Practice and Medical programs. I sit on the board of BC Family Doctors and have become a Chief Negotiator for the Doctors of BC so that we can bring on some change in our health care system.
I realize the importance of affording myself the same consideration and kindness I advocate for my loved ones and patients. I studied Compassionate Inquiry with mentor and teacher Dr. Gabor Maté, an approach to help soften the effects of repressed fear and pain. I realized the importance of the Zili CARE Formula in my own daily life with meditation, a short bout of exercise daily, and being in nature, and that has fed my soul in order to go through the journey of life with purpose.
My professional journey began in Germany in the fashion industry before moving to Canada in my 20’s. In Vancouver, I became a certified make-up artist and worked on a variety of productions, as well as at a television station before deciding to change my direction. Wishing to utilize my sales and management skills, I moved to become part of the luxury cosmetics industry. In cosmetics I experienced many levels of business, culminating with twelve years as an executive with a leading international corporation.
Through my life’s journey I have always felt a deep desire to support and enrich people’s lives. With the critical need in our society for rethinking mental and physical well being, the Zili CARE mission strongly resonates with my skills, desires, and life purpose. I am honoured to be part of the Zili CARE movement.
The Zili CARE Formula is an important element in my life and I use it with daily walks by the ocean and being in nature, meditation, music, pilates, pottery, spending time with family and friends, trying out new restaurants, travelling, watching old movies and being curious.
I am a passionate business leader with 25 years experience in supporting people and organizations make transformational change. I am the Clinical Director and Founder of Progress Counselling. In my business career I have held executive roles in a variety of organizations in the energy, health care and banking sectors. I have an MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a BA in Economics and Psychology from the University of Victoria. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
I am driven to help people make meaningful change in their lives, their families and in their communities. I believe that our current mental health system does not effectively support those who need it most and I am excited to combine my skills with the incredible Zili CARE team in order to improve equity in all areas of health.
I live in West Vancouver with my husband, teenage twins and our beloved family pets. I use the Zili CARE Formula in my own life by walking my dog, enjoying nature with my family, reading, and cuddling with my pets.
