This Wednesday night, All Elite Wrestling brings maximum violence to “Beantown” with the third installment of the AEW Dynamite special appropriately called “Blood and Guts.” The TD Garden, known for sporting the trademark Boston Celtics green will be bathed in blood and painted red as the Blackpool Combat Club and its cohorts take on The Elite in the event’s namesake match. Plus, a lot more coming your way on this special night!
Let’s take a look at everything announced for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts:
AEW Dynamite Blood & Guts card: July 19, 2023
MJF and Adam Cole vs. Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia (Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Final)
Hook (c) vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry for the FTW Championship
Blackpool Combat Club vs. The Golden Elite (Blood & Guts Match)
Forbidden Door proved to be one of the most memorable events of 2023, and a significant moment that made it more noteworthy is “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry crossing the line and attacking his JungleHook partner the FTW Champion Hook. These two were polar opposites but managed to co-exist somehow. However, those days seem far away now, as this Jack Perry is unrecognizable to many people.
He’s brash, he’s arrogant, and he wants the FTW Championship by any means necessary. Well, Hook wants Jack one-on-one and has been wanting to face him for weeks now. Both men will get what they want this Wednesday night at Blood and Guts. One wants gold, the other revenge. It’s Jack Perry versus Hook; FTW Title Match. Who walks away victorious?
Caged Chaos
The animosity between the BCC and The Elite has finally reached its fever pitch. After all the battles waged in the “Anarchy in the Arena” Match back at Double or Nothing, and the war their members had at Forbidden Door, there’s no better way to finally settle this barbaric rivalry than in a Blood and Guts Match. These two factions have been at it for months to establish who the dominant force really is in AEW.
However, both teams may regret it once they’re locked inside this unforgiving structure. We’ve seen Chris Jericho suffer an almost fatal fall at the hands of MJF in the first-ever iteration of this brutal match type. Last year, “The Ocho” was spun on top of the cage by the BCC’s own Claudio Castagnoli. While those matchups were epic, this year’s bout is extremely personal.
Why you may ask? Well, aside from the epic conclusion of the rivalry between The Elite and the BCC, this night marks the return of “The Bastard” PAC as the BCC’s fifth man, and the debut of one of the best professional wrestlers to ever grace the squared circle, Kota Ibushi. PAC has always had animosity with the members of The Elite. And this Wednesday, he exacts his revenge.
Unfortunately for the opposite side, Omega has the biggest “ace in the hole” anyone could have ever imagined, enlisting the help of his former Golden Lovers tag team to bring a definitive end to this conflict.
There’s no doubt in anybody’s mind that the 2023 edition of Blood and Guts will be the most sadistic and violent yet. It’s the end! The Golden Elite versus the Blackpool Combat Club, Konosuke Takeshita, and PAC; Blood and Guts! It all goes down this Wednesday night, AEW Dynamite only on TBS!

What to watch for on AEW Dynamite ‘Blood and Guts’
After months of fighting and bludgeoning each other, the rivalry between the Blackpool Combat Club and the Elite will come to an end in tonight’s Blood and Guts match at the TD Garden. This rivalry stems all the way back to March when the BCC attacked the Young Bucks backstage and we’ve seen the two groups go to war since then, even main eventing Double or Nothing in an Anarchy Arena match. Last week, the two groups revealed the fifth members of their respective teams for this match, with the BCC bringing in a returning Pac and the Elite turning to Japanese wrestling legend Kota Ibushi.
Blood and Guts follows the original rules of WarGames introduced by Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW (the WWE’s current version of WarGames follows different rules). The match features two conjoined rings with a roofed steel cage surrounding both of them. The match starts off with one member of each team facing each other for five minutes before a member of the team with the numbers advantage enters to momentarily make it a 2-on-1 handicap match. After a two-minute period, a member of the other team enters the match to even the odds. From there, alternating members of each team will continue to enter every two minutes until all 10 combatants have officially entered the cage. At that point, the match officially “begins” and a team can only win by either submission or surrender. As the name suggests, this should be a pretty violent affair.
Blood and Guts isn’t the only thing being featured on tonight’s show as we’ll get the finals of the blind eliminator tag team tournament as MJF and Adam Cole will take on Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia of the Jericho Appreciation Society. MJF and Cole have worked extremely well as a unit for the past few weeks, so we’ll see if they can seal the deal and earn themselves a tag team title opportunity...or if the champ predictably turns on Cole.
Also on the show, Hook will put the FTW Championship on the line when facing “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.
AEW is back in the U.S., and bringing their annual Blood & Guts match to Boston’s TD Garden. The war between Blackpool Combat Club & The Elite should finally be settled when Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita & the returning PAC get in the cage with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page & the debuting Kota Ibushi! Plus, best buds MJF & Adam Cole try to win a Tag title shot when they face Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia in the Blind Eliminator Tournament finals, HOOK puts the FTW belt on the line against Jungle Boy Jack Perry — and more!

The Blood & Guts match is AEW’s version of WarGames. Dynamite will be live from Boston, Massachusetts at TD Garden. Friday’s AEW Rampage will also be taped tonight. Join me for our weekly live review as Dynamite airs Wednesdays on TBS at 7CT/8ET.
AEW officially confirmed the return of Blood and Guts for 2023 on this week's AEW Dynamite as The Blackpool Combat Club will look to end their months-long blood feud with The Elite. After drama between Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley kept popping up throughout the first hour of the show, The BCC's Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta along with Konosuke Takeshita and Don Callis jumped Hangman Page and The Young Bucks following their trios match with The Dark Order. Kingston ran out to try and even the odds, but it was to no avail. After the four men were left in a bloody heap, Moxley proclaimed it was time to end things.
The two-ring steel cage match will take place on the July 19 episode of AEW Dynamite at the TD Garden in Boston. The BCC will look to go 2-0 in the match after winning last year's bout against The Jericho Apperciation Society, only last year Kingston was on their side.
If given the choice, The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club might just do what the name of AEW’s video game suggests and fight forever. Alas, the conventions of pro wrestling demand that even the most baked-in grudge eventually gets settled, preferably in the most spectacular way possible. In AEW, that generally means Blood and Guts, which is taking place between these two teams tonight on Dynamite in Boston.
Taking its inspiration from the classic WarGames match of years gone by (and thus not making it a ripoff of WWE’s current version of the same), Blood and Guts features two groups facing off inside two rings covered by a roofed steel cage. Weapons and pretty much everything else are legal, and the match can only win with a submission or surrender.
Both sides in this particular bout have some fun additions. The Elite has morphed into The Golden Elite with the arrival of Kenny Omega’s friend and former partner, Kota Ibushi. The BCC was dealt a blow when Bryan Danielson hurt his arm, but has recovered nicely by teaming with a man whose perpetually foul temperament seems perfect for Blood and Guts, Pac.
And while Blood and Guts is the obvious centerpiece and should get plenty of time, it’s not like it’s the only match on the card in Boston. The final of AEW’s silly but strangely compelling Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament will see Adam Cole and MJF square off against Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara, with the winning duo assured a title shot. And the not official but still defendable FTW Championship will be on the line when Hook faces Jack Perry.
